We’ve all fumbled with screenshots or searched our inboxes frantically for that elusive boarding pass – but not anymore! Google Wallet just got a whole lot smarter, streamlining your travel and entertainment plans. The app now pulls your movie tickets and boarding passes directly from Gmail confirmation emails.

This means no more stressful scrolling or manual uploads the moment you need to scan your ticket. This seamless integration not only saves time but also adds peace of mind. Google says the feature works with a variety of movie chains and airlines worldwide, and they’re rapidly adding more.

Movie tickets and boarding passes from Gmail are now surfaced in the Google Wallet when a user buys a ticket and gets a confirmation email in their Gmail. This integration is live for some global movie chains and airlines and we are working to expand this.

It’s refreshingly simple. The magic lies in the QR code or boarding pass image attached to your confirmation email. Google Wallet recognizes these and automatically adds them to your digital wallet. Of course, if a particular airline or ticketing service doesn’t include these directly in the email, you might still need to do a quick manual upload.

Google Wallet didn’t just stop at the auto-import. They also polished up how your boarding passes are displayed. You’ll easily see the date and time, and quickly jump to the related app or website for any additional details. Plus, Wallet finally joins the ranks of other organization apps by letting you “archive” passes after a trip is over – decluttering your digital ticket collection.

Google’s release notes hint at even more exciting developments. They’re testing ways to integrate loyalty cards in Google Wallet with Google Shopping. Just imagine browsing products and instantly seeing membership discounts and perks pop up – what a time-saver! While this feature is still a work-in-progress for US users, it’s a promising sign of things to come.

The takeaway? Google Wallet is becoming an indispensable travel and entertainment companion. All these useful new features would make the transition form Google Pay to Google Wallet a lot easier for those who’re yet to switch ahead of the shutdown.
